Carmel Winery - Zichron Ya’acov Wine Cellars, Wine St. Zichron Ya’acov

Published by admin

Kosher wine

Carmel’s Zichron Ya’acov Wine Cellars was built in 1892 by Baron Edmond de Rothsachild and remains the largest winery in Israel. This is the only winery in Israel where you can see the old, new and ancient world of winemaking in one setting. There are a few large wooden barrels on display, which were used for fermentation in the early days but they were replaced by large cement tanks – and this is the only Israeli winery where these may be seen. Today they in turn have been replaced by stainless steel tanks, temperature controlled by computer, and small 225 liter French oak barrels

At Zichron Ya’acov Cellars, it is also possible to see winemaking on both a massive and small scale - a large commercial winery, a boutique and even a micro-winery for R & D, are on the premises. The size of the stainless steel tanks tell the story – they range from to 500 liters in the micro-winery, to 200,000 liters in the mass market winery.

Zichron is not only the most historic winery in Israel, but it also illustrates the cutting edge of modern winemaking technology. In 2003 a modern, small state of the art facility was added to allow winemaking from individual vineyards on a small scale. It is arguably the best equipped and most up to date winery in the country. Sam Soroka, an experienced winemaker of international repute, was appointed as its winemaker. This is where Carmel’s finest wines are produced from Upper Galilee, Golan Heights and Zichron Ya’acov vineyards.

It is also the only winery in Israel with a restaurant on the premises.

Tishbi Estate Winery Visitor’s Center and Restaurant

Published by admin

A renovated Visitor’s Center was opened to the public in the year 2000. It is located opposite the Winery and overlooks the valley below. The Tishbi Estate Winery Center includes a kosher, dairy restaurant and a store that sells wines, a line of private label gourmet foods, Israeli cheeses and gifts. Guided tours are available in Hebrew and English and include fascinating descriptions of the world of wine and tastings of various Tishbi wines. Tishbi also boasts an authentic alembic distillery for the production of its prized brandy and it is also a highlight of the tour.Tours last approximately one hour and should be scheduled in advance.Fine Food By Oshra Tishbi

This is the Winery’s line of gourmet food. Boasting Israel’s only wine jellies, Oshra is constantly dreaming up new ways to entice the palate. The need to host guests by serving fine food with the family’s wines brought about the idea for this concept. All goods are natural and contain neither additives nor preservatives in accordance with the Tishbi family’s healthy lifestyle. The growing assortment of products now includes extra-virgin olive oil, organic tehina paste, honey, fruit preserves, and - of course - the wine jellies. The items are both served at the Winery’s restaurant and are sold individually or as gift sets with the wines.

Tishbi is a pioneer winery in Israel to offer food products with their own private label, thus naturally expanding their variety of quality goods. You are welcome to taste the new flavors on premise and take a piece of Tishbi back to enjoy at your own home.

Group visits for brunch or wine tasting are also welcome with prior notice.
